A 2 year postdoctoral position is now open in the field of TB drug development at the University of British Columbia, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Vancouver Canada and The Tres Cantos Open Laboratory, Madrid, Spain.

Postdoctoral Fellow Position

Job Description: We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher with an interest in finding novel drugs targeting intracellular mycobacteria. The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research environment focusing on developing new phenotypic assays and will be responsible for conducting a screening campaign.  Because M. tuberculosis is a Class 3 pathogen, the successful candidate will spend a significant amount of time working under Biosafety-Level-3 Laboratory containment. The project is funded through a grant recently awarded to Prof. Yossef Av-Gay and will require training in Canada before relocating to Madrid. Salary will be commensurate with experience according to the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Minimum Qualification: Candidates should have a PhD in life sciences preferentially involving practical work using laboratory techniques in molecular microbiology and assay development.  Experience working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis is an asset.
