Training
The IIRC is committed to the education and growth of students at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. Collectively, the faculty within the IIRC supervise around 20 post-doctoral fellows and 40 graduate students during the year from a number of different departments at UBC. Most of our students come from experimental medicine, health care and epidemiology, microbiology and immunology, and medical genetics.

Training Program in Transplantation Research
This program is supported through Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, and is affiliated with the University of British Columbia, its teaching hospitals, and the British Columbia Transplant Society.
Research projects available through this program encompass all aspects of transplantation including, but not limited to; basic and applied research into the immune system, stem cell biology, tissue transplantation, organ preservation, organ donation and ethical issues related to transplantation, outcomes research and clinical epidemiology related to transplantation.

The IIRC hosts a seminar series in partnership with the Division of Infectious Diseases in which Faculty members, their students and invited guests give presentations on their research in progress. This provides an important forum for students, principal investigators and other researchers to discuss research and share ideas.
Unless noted otherwise all seminars take place at The Paetzold Health Education Centre, which is located on the main floor of Vancouver General Hospital in the Jim Pattison Pavilion South building. Enter through the main doors at 899 West 12th and proceed straight ahead past the information kiosk, past the elevators, and the doors will be to your right.
