Lung Disease
Dr. Khalil’s research interests focus on the molecular and biological mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis and airway remodeling in asthma. Dr. Khalil is in the process of developing a pharmaceutical agent for pulmonary fibrosis such as that seen in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Dr. Khalil's clinical expertise focuses on interstitial lung diseases and has commenced a clinic at the Vancouver General Hospital dedicated to the diagnosis and management of patients with interstitial lung disease. In addition, Dr. Khalil, who was the Associate Director of Tuberculosis Control at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control from 1999-2002, has extensive experience in diseases caused by Mycobacteria tuberculosis and atypical mycobacteria.
